Liz Cheney revealed some of the texts received by Chief of Staff Mark Meadows from Trump supporters during the January 6th attack, and they make clear both how serious the situation was and how unwilling the president was to do anything about it. A sample:

-”There’s an armed standoff at the House Chamber door.”

-”POTUS has to come out firmly and tell protestors to dissipate. Someone is going to get killed”
